Illuminations
In June and December 2021, Ardrishaig (near the Egg Shed), The Queen’s Hall in Dunoon, and McCaig’s Tower in Oban, Argyll and Bute, were filled with projections of art and music, marking the life and legacy of Colmcille (St. Columba). Illuminations displayed works created as part of Duais Dìleab Chaluim Chille / The Colmcille Legacy Award Scheme for the first time across the region and linked across borders to mark Colmcille (St. Columba) birth in Ireland and death in Iona (597 AD).
To coincide with Illuminations, several events took place in collaboration with Foras Na Gaeilge in Ireland. These surrounding events celebrated Gaelic arts and heritage with talks, poetry and art:
Coinneal Cholmcille, Foras Na Gaeilge
Colmcille 1500 | Celebrating The Life And Times Of Colmcille at Ulster University
Duais Dìleab Chaluim Chille / The Colmcille Legacy Award Scheme on BBC Naidheachdan
Judith Parrott At Islay Gaelic Centre
