As part of CHARTS work with young people, Exhibition Trainee Lily Vaughan was supported to undertake learning and development opportunities, including a trip to Glasgow. During this visit, Lily visited the studio of Conservator Sylvia Krauss and met with Dr Kate Cowcher from the University of St. Andrews and Professor Christina Young from the University of Glasgow. Lily gained first-hand experience of the work being done by all three academics to conserve three pieces from The Argyll Collection’s African collection, which included the reframing of Sam Ntiro’s ‘Cutting Wood’.
In the afternoon, Ros, Kirsty and Lily visited the Hunterian Art Gallery to view ‘The Trembling Museum’ exhibition. This was a fantastic opportunity for Lily to explore ways in which to approach her forthcoming exhibition, ‘Awaken: The Argyll Collection’.
